To fulfil our promise to offer highly effective natural cosmetic products, we follow four ethical principles: quality, effectiveness, transparency and sustainability.

Having grown up surrounded by the nature in the Bregenzerwald in Austria, sustainability is more than just a fashionable word to Founder Susanne Kaufmann. From the careful selection of only the finest plant and botanical ingredients to the implementation of the most eco-friendly production technologies and processes, sustainability has been at the core of the brand for almost two decades and is imperative to everything Susanne creates and pursues.

Leaving a lighter footprint

The world’s ecosystems are under increased pressure. It is therefore our mission to constantly expand our efforts and minimise our footprint on the earth. As part of our ongoing promise and journey to reduce the amount of packaging required to deliver our powerful products to you, and to cut CO2 emissions further, we’ve launched a unique innovative refill system that extends the shelf-life of our iconic glass bottles.

For many years, the refill project has been particularly close to founder Susanne’s heart:

Meet our refill pioneers

Effective, natural, and sustainable: Formulated with natural renewable sugar surfactants, our pioneers offer a particularly gentle cleanse. Unlike synthetic agents, these non-irritant cleansing agents do not harm the skin’s natural protective layer and are suitable for sensitive skin.

Hand Soap

A household essential, our gentle hand wash is designed to cleanse and condition, and protect from dryness. Nourishing plant extracts, including horsetail and burdock, leave the skin moisturised and velvety soft with every use.

Purifying Cleansing Gel

Suitable for all skin types, this cleansing favourite is particularly beneficial for oily and combination skin. Formulated with a potent herbal compound made of cockspur hawthorn and masterwort, the gel has a soothing, clarifying and antibacterial effect on blemished skin.

Hair & Body Wash

Meet our 3-in-1 nourishing multitasker. Enriched with silk protein, aloe vera and yarrow, it provides intense care and hydration whilst soothing scalp and skin. Suitable for the entire family.

Making a difference

In keeping with her philosophy of keeping it local, Founder Susanne Kaufmann chose Austrian family-owned company ALPLA to develop her first-ever refill packaging. Renowned far beyond the Alps, ALPLA is an award-winning global leader in the development and manufacture of plastic packaging solutions. With the extensive knowledge of our partner, we were able to produce refills that are exceptionally light. Being made of 75% recycled, post-consumer material (rHDPE), they are up to 60% lighter than standard HDPE bottles.

A Life Cycle Assessment, conducted by ALPLA, confirms that:

• By purchasing a refill, carbon emissions are cut by 69% as compared to buying another glass bottle.
• Refilling your original glass bottle four times with a Susanne Kaufmann refill, as recommended, has 50% less overall environmental impact: greenhouse gas emissions* are reduced by 55%, water use is reduced by 37.5%, and the environmental impact of land use is cut by around 50%, and contribution to smog by around 56%.
  
  *The results are based on a customer purchasing in Hamburg, Germany. For countries further afield, the results are impacted by transportation emissions, such as aeroplanes.
