  Sustainably cultivated in Germany via biotechnology, ectoin is a multifunctional amino acid found naturally in certain types of microorganism that manage to thrive in the most hostile environments on the planet. To survive, they synthesize the amino acid to form a protective shield that delivers defence against environmental stressors such as extremes of temperature, pollution and UV light. With outstanding clinically proven efficacy, ectoin is known to promote skin barrier repair, balance the skinÕs microbiome, reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles and help to protect the skin against environmental aggressors.
