UV-B and UV-A rays of the sun have an aggressive effect on our skin and can often cause lasting damage. Sunburn, dehydration, premature wrinkling and, in the worst case, skin cancer can be the result. The best protection is still provided by clothing and cautious exposure to solar radiation.
How much sun do you tolerate?
How much sun you tolerate depends on the following skin types:
Type 1, Celtic type: Strikingly light skin with freckles, blue eyes, reddish hair. In midsummer, a sunburn occurs after 5 to 10 minutes at lunchtime.
Tip: Avoid the sun, your skin does not tan, the sun exposure leads to severe skin damage that could lead to skin cancer. Even in the shade, you should also apply a high sun protection factor.
Type 2, Germanic type: Blonde hair, gray, blue or green eyes. Although your skin will redden after 10 to 20 minutes if you are not used to the sun, over time you will get moderately tanned.
Tip: Do not stay in the sun for too long. Choose a high sun protection factor of 30 to 50 in the first week of your holiday. If your skin is already tanned, choose a medium factor, eg. 15 to 20.
Type 3, Mixed type: dark blond hair, gray or brown eyes; They may be in the sun for 20 to 30 minutes without sunburn, progressively tanning.
Tip: SPF 30 in the first few days, then switch to lower factor, but at the least a factor 10. Enjoy the sun with caution, too much can cause irreparable damage to your skin and lead to skin cancer.
Type 4, Mediterranean type: olive skin, dark hair, brown eyes, you are largely spared by sunburn. Skin that has not previously been exposed to the sun reddens after 40 minutes at the earliest.
Tip: Use sun protection factor 20 at the beginning of the vacation; a lower value for pre-tanned skin. Since you are not a fair skin type, the risk of skin cancer is lower. However, frequent sunbathing can also speed wrinkling and cause skin cancer.
