How to Prevent Red Patches

How to Prevent Red Patches

Our skin-care guide for hypersensitive and reddened skin.

Our facial skin is fragile and may respond to allergies, stress, pollution, and sunlight by becoming reddened. This can happen now, for example, as the seasons change. Outside, the cold air blows in our faces; inside, the dry air from the heating promises warmth, but puts our skin to the test. The effects of these external environmental influences can exacerbate facial skin conditions such as couperose or rosacea. We asked our experts from the Susanne Kaufmann Spa how to gently treat and reduce the reddening of the skin.

Discuss the Causes: If you do not suffer from couperose or rosacea, your skin’s redness may be related to your diet or an allergy to toiletries, detergents, or clothing.

Product Ingredients: Rashes are often warning signs telling us that something is wrong. Therefore, it is important to focus on soothing and anti-inflammatory ingredients. The most important ingredient to combat redness is the balloon plant (cardiospermum halicacabum). It has a strong anti-inflammatory effect, in addition to reducing redness, itching, and moisture loss of the skin. It is particularly gentle and thus recommended for people with eczema, atopic dermatitis, and inflamed skin.

Skin-Care Routine: It is best to first carefully wash reddened skin with lukewarm water and bare hands. Using your fingertips, gently apply the Soothing Cleansing Milk to your forehead, cheeks, bridge of the nose, and chin in small circles. Do not press too hard on the reddened skin. Rinse your face with lukewarm water again and pat it dry with a soft towel. Moisten a cotton ball with some alcohol-free Soothing Toner and apply it to the face using gentle strokes. Depending on the condition of your skin, intensive serums may be able to soothe irritated skin. For skin prone to inflammation, we recommend the Nutrient Serum with active ingredients marigold, an anti-inflammatory, and valuable thistle oil. Couperose and rosacea sufferers experience noticeable relief after only four weeks with the Protection Serum. This product has an active agent complex of buckeye, brown algae, and coffee bean. Then apply your day cream and protection sunscreen. For couperose skin, we recommend the Nourishing Rich Cream with the active ingredients pansy and echinacea. It gives the skin long-lasting moisture and counteracts feelings of tension.
